The Work Wife

Meher Talwar and Karan Bedi joined a Gurugram accounting firm in the same intake eight years ago. Same grade, different teams, and the whole floor calls them work husband and work wife: she knows his coffee, he finishes her sentences in client meetings. Both are married, to people they love and don't want to hurt. Then a partner sends the two of them to audit an auto-parts plant outside Pune for six weeks in the monsoon, and the client's old guest bungalow has two bedrooms and a plywood wall between them. On the first night Meher hears something through that wall she was never meant to hear. In the first week they find the plant's books are cooked, and that what they have felt for eight years has a name. They say it out loud, make four rules to never act on it, and spend the rest of the monsoon keeping and testing them. Ten short episodes. At the end, the listener decides what Meher does with the rest of it. This is a work of fiction; all people and businesses are invented. It is about attraction between two married adults and has no explicit content. (18+)
