Terms of Use
Last updated 5 October 2026 Version 1.0
The short version
- You must be 13 or older to use Turtle FM — 18 or older in India. Mature stories and character chat are for adults only.
- You can listen as a guest. If you never sign in and lose your phone or delete the app, we may not be able to recover your coins or unlocked episodes.
- Stories are written and edited by people using AI tools and are voiced by AI. AI characters are AI, not people — what they say is fiction, not advice.
- The first episodes of every series are free. After that you can wait for free (one episode per series each time the timer runs out), use your daily free episode, or spend coins. This applies to every episode, including finales.
- An episode’s coin price is shown before you unlock it and never changes after the episode is published.
- Coins never expire, have no cash value and can’t be transferred. Unused coins are lost if you delete your account.
- VIP renews automatically until you cancel in the App Store or Google Play. You keep VIP until the end of the period you paid for.
- Nothing in these terms takes away rights you have under consumer law where you live.
1. About these terms
These Terms of Use (“Terms”) are an agreement between you and Turtle Techsai, Nagpur, Maharashtra, India (“Turtle Techsai”, “we”, “us”). They cover the Turtle FM apps for iOS and Android, the web app at https://turtlefmapp.turtletechsai.com, and related services (together, the “Service”).
These Terms include, by reference:
- our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle personal data;
- our Refund and Cancellation Policy;
- our Content and Community Guidelines;
- our AI Transparency statement;
- our Grievance Redressal and Copyright procedures.
Accepting these Terms. You accept these Terms when you choose your age band on the first screen, where a link to them is shown, or when you otherwise use the Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
2. Who can use Turtle FM
- You must be at least 13 years old.
- In India, you must be at least 18 years old. We do not offer accounts to anyone under 18 in India.
- Stories rated 16+ and 18+, the Mature stories setting and character chat are for adults (18+) only. Listeners aged 13–17 can listen to stories rated 13+.
- If you are under the age of majority where you live, you confirm that a parent or guardian has reviewed these Terms with you and agrees to them, and that you have their permission for any purchase.
- You may not use the Service if you are barred from doing so by law, or if we have previously closed your account for breaking these Terms.
Age is self-declared. Giving a false age to get around these rules breaks these Terms.
3. Guest mode and accounts
Guest mode. You can listen without creating an account. The app creates a random identifier on your device and a guest account linked to it. Your progress, coins and unlocked episodes belong to that guest account.
Important: a guest account exists only on the device that created it. If you uninstall the app, clear its data, or lose or replace your device without signing in first, we may not be able to restore your guest account, its coins or its unlocked episodes. Coin purchases are one-time purchases that the stores cannot “restore”. We recommend signing in before buying coins.
Signing in. You can sign in with Google, with Apple (on iOS) or with an email address and password. When you sign in, your guest account is upgraded. If you sign in on a new device to an account you already have, the coins and unlocked episodes of the guest account on that device are moved into your account.
Keeping your account safe. Keep your password private and use one you do not use elsewhere. You are responsible for activity on your account unless it happened because of our fault. Tell us at once at contact@turtletechsai.com if you think someone else is using it.
One person per account. Accounts are personal. You may not sell, transfer or share your account.
Signing out. When you sign out, the app starts a new, empty guest session on that device.
Deleting your account. You can delete your account at any time (see section 17 and Delete your account).
4. Our content and your licence to use it
The stories, audio, scripts, characters, artwork, music, software and branding in the Service (“Content”) belong to us or our licensors and are protected by copyright and other laws.
We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to stream and listen to the Content you have access to, inside the Service, for your own non-commercial entertainment. You may download episodes inside the app to listen offline. Downloads are kept in the app’s private storage, work only inside the app, and are deleted when the episode is no longer available to you.
You may not, and may not help anyone else to:
- copy, record, rip, re-upload, broadcast, publicly perform, sell or distribute any Content;
- remove labels, notices or the AI disclosure from any Content;
- use Content, or the Service, to train, fine-tune or test any AI model or to build a competing service;
- scrape, crawl or extract Content or data by automated means.
5. AI-made stories
Turtle FM stories are original fiction. People plan each series, write the outlines and edit and approve every script. AI language models help draft the scripts. Every episode is performed by AI-generated voices from licensed providers, and series and episode artwork is generated with AI. A person reviews each episode before it is published. See AI Transparency for details.
- Stories with AI voices are labelled “AI voices” in the app, and each series begins with a short spoken disclosure.
- We do not clone or imitate the voice of any real person.
- All characters and events are fictional. Any resemblance to real people, living or dead, or to real events, is coincidental.
- Stories inspired by mythology, history or religion are works of fiction. They are not religious teaching or historical record, and they are reviewed for cultural and religious sensitivity before publication.
- Stories may include mature themes. Ratings and content notes are shown on each series page (see Content and Community Guidelines).
6. AI characters and character chat
Some story characters can be chatted with. Character chat is optional and only for adults (18+).
- AI characters are software, not people. A permanent banner in every chat says so, and a character will tell you it is an AI if you ask. Their replies are generated automatically, can be inaccurate, inconsistent or unexpected, and do not reflect our views.
- Not advice. Nothing an AI character says is medical, psychological, legal, financial or any other professional advice. Do not rely on it for decisions about your health, safety, money or legal matters.
- Not an emergency service. If a message suggests you may be at risk of harming yourself, the character will not reply and the app will show helplines for your country instead. If you are in danger, contact your local emergency number.
- Consent. Before your first chat we ask for your consent to send your messages to our AI provider and check them for safety. See the Privacy Policy.
- Moderation. Every message you send, and every reply, is checked automatically. Messages that break the rules are not passed to the character, and you are not charged for them.
- Spoilers. Characters only know the story up to the last episode you have finished.
- Break reminders. After about 30 minutes of continuous chatting the app suggests a break.
- No manipulation. Characters are instructed never to ask you to stay, come back or spend money, and never to guilt you for leaving. If one does, please report it.
- Free and paid messages. You get a number of free messages each day, shown in the chat. After that, each message costs the number of coins shown in the chat, and you must choose to continue with coins before any are spent. You are charged only for messages that receive a character reply.
- Your messages. You are responsible for what you send. Follow the chat rules in section 12 and in the Content and Community Guidelines. You keep any rights you have in your messages and give us a licence to process them as described in the Privacy Policy, only to provide and keep the chat safe.
We may change, limit or switch off character chat — for example in a market, for a character or if moderation is unavailable.
7. Coins
What coins are. Coins are a virtual item used only inside Turtle FM to unlock episodes and send paid chat messages. They are a limited licence to use a feature of the Service, not money or property.
- Coins have no cash value. They cannot be exchanged for money, refunded for cash (except where the law or a store refund requires it, see Refunds), transferred to another person or account, sold, or traded.
- Coins never expire, including bonus coins.
- Paid and bonus coins. Coins you buy are “paid coins”. Coins we give you — for example with a coin pack, a VIP plan or a promotion — are “bonus coins”. When you spend, bonus coins are used first.
- Prices differ by country. The coin packs and their prices are set for each country’s store and shown in your local currency before you buy. The number of coins an episode costs is the same everywhere; what changes is the price of coin packs.
- Your market. Your coin balance is tied to the country (market) your account was created in.
- Mistakes. If coins are credited or removed by mistake (for example a technical error), we may correct your balance. We will tell you if we do.
- Deleting your account forfeits any unused coins. They cannot be restored or refunded.
- Refunded purchases. If Apple or Google refunds a coin purchase, we remove the coins from that purchase from your balance (never below zero). If those coins were already spent, we may review the account and, in cases of abuse, restrict it.
- Closing the Service. If we ever close Turtle FM, we will give you at least 60 days notice so you can use your coins.
8. Unlocking episodes
These are the rules the app follows. Exact numbers (free episodes, wait time, daily free episodes) are set per country and shown in the app.
- Free episodes. The first episodes of every series are free for everyone. The number is shown on each series page (at launch: the first 8).
- In order. Episodes unlock in order: you can unlock an episode once the one before it is available to you.
- Wait for free. Every locked episode — including finales — can be unlocked by waiting. Each series has one timer. It starts when you first reach a locked episode in that series and runs for the time shown (at launch: 24 hours). When it ends, you can unlock the next locked episode for free, and the timer starts again. If you pay for an episode while the timer is running, the timer keeps running and will apply to your next locked episode. The countdown comes from our server and is never reset or extended.
- Daily free episode. Each day (by your local time) you can unlock 1 locked episode for free in any series.
- Coins. You can unlock an episode by spending coins. Its coin price, an estimate in your local currency, and your balance before and after are shown before you confirm. An episode’s coin price is fixed when it is published and does not change afterwards. Prices depend on the episode’s length, within a minimum and maximum. There are no coins-only episodes and no finale surcharge.
- Auto-unlock is off unless you turn it on. When it is on, the app tells you each time it spends coins and pauses after 3 episodes per session.
- Story choices in interactive episodes are free.
- Rewarded ads (not available today). If we add them, you may be able to unlock an episode or earn coins by choosing to watch an ad, up to a daily limit shown in the app. A reward is given once the ad network confirms you watched the ad. If an ad fails to load, the attempt does not count.
- How long unlocks last. An episode you unlock stays unlocked on your account, in every language and story branch we offer, for as long as we make that episode available. See section 14 for when content may be removed.
We may change these numbers for the future — for example the number of free episodes or the wait time — but we will not raise the coin price of an episode after it is published, and changes will never take away an episode you have already unlocked.
9. VIP subscription
VIP is an optional, auto-renewing subscription bought through the Apple App Store or Google Play.
Plans. Monthly, or every 3 months (quarterly). The app shows the price in your currency, the billing period, and the price per month before you subscribe.
What VIP includes (shown on the plan screen before you buy):
- No ads — note that Turtle FM has no ads today, so this benefit only matters if we introduce rewarded ads;
- early access to new episodes, currently 24 hours before they are free for everyone else to unlock;
- a coin grant of 100 bonus coins each month (the quarterly plan grants 3 months’ worth at the start of each 3-month period). Granted coins never expire.
What VIP does not include: unlimited episode unlocks (locked episodes still need coins or the free wait) and extra chat messages.
Automatic renewal. Your subscription renews automatically at the end of each period, at the price shown when you subscribed, and you will be charged through your App Store or Google Play account, until you cancel. There is no free trial.
How to cancel. Cancel at any time, in two taps: Profile → VIP → Cancel VIP opens your store’s subscription page. You can also cancel directly in your Apple ID subscription settings or in Google Play → Payments & subscriptions. Cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period to avoid the next charge (store rules). Deleting the app or your Turtle FM account does not cancel your subscription.
After you cancel, VIP stays active until the end of the period you have paid for, and the app shows the end date. We do not give partial refunds for the unused part of a period, except where the law or the store’s policy requires it.
Price changes. If the VIP price changes, Apple or Google will notify you and, where their rules or the law require, ask for your agreement before the new price applies. You can cancel before it takes effect.
Refunds for VIP are handled by Apple or Google (see Refunds). If a VIP payment is refunded, VIP ends immediately.
10. Purchases and payments
- Stores. All purchases in the apps are processed by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play), under their terms and payment methods. We do not receive your card or bank details. The store’s confirmation screen is always shown before you are charged.
- Web purchases are not offered at the moment. We may offer payments on the web in future, for example in India through a payment provider such as Razorpay. If we do, we will update these Terms and the Refund Policy first.
- Prices and taxes. Prices are shown in your local currency and include taxes where the store is required to include them.
- Delivery. Coins are added to your balance as soon as the store confirms the payment, usually within seconds. If they do not arrive, contact us with your store receipt.
- Pricing errors. If a product is shown at an obviously wrong price because of an error, we may cancel the transaction and arrange a refund through the store.
- Parental controls. If you are a parent, you can use Apple’s “Ask to Buy” or Google Play’s purchase approval to control purchases on your child’s device.
11. Refunds
Refunds are covered by our Refund and Cancellation Policy. In short: refunds for store purchases are decided by Apple or Google under their processes; refunded coins are removed from your balance; spent coins are not refundable except where the law requires; and nothing in these Terms limits your statutory rights.
12. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- break any law, or use the Service to harm, harass, threaten, defraud or impersonate anyone;
- get around age limits, regional restrictions, locks, timers, daily limits or payment;
- exploit bugs, manipulate the coin balance, abuse refunds or chargebacks, or obtain coins or unlocks by fraud;
- use bots, scripts, scrapers or other automated means to access the Service, or interfere with or overload it;
- reverse engineer, decompile or modify the apps, except where the law allows this despite this restriction;
- probe or attack our security, or access accounts or data that are not yours;
- copy or redistribute Content (section 4);
- submit false or abusive reports or complaints.
Character chat rules. In chat you must not:
- try to get sexual content, or any content involving minors in a sexual or harmful way — this is never allowed;
- seek content that promotes or instructs violence, terrorism, self-harm, suicide, eating disorders, drugs or weapons;
- post hate speech, or content attacking people for their religion, caste, ethnicity, nationality, gender, sexuality, disability or other protected characteristics;
- use chat to talk about or imitate real people, or to create content that could be passed off as a real person’s words;
- share other people’s personal information, or your own sensitive information (we recommend you don’t share your full name, address, phone number, financial or health details);
- try to “jailbreak” the character, extract its instructions, or make it break its safety rules;
- use chat to create content for distribution outside the app or for commercial use.
13. Reports, complaints and enforcement
- Reporting. You can report any series, episode, character or chat message from inside the app, with or without an account. Long-press a chat message to report it. You get a reference number and the time by which we aim to respond. See Grievance Redressal.
- What we may do. If you break these Terms, we may warn you, remove access to chat, suspend or close your account, or report unlawful activity to the authorities. We act in proportion to the problem and, unless the law or safety prevents it, will tell you why and how to appeal.
- Appeals. If you disagree with a decision about your account or a complaint, reply to our decision or write to the Grievance Officer. In India you may also appeal to the Grievance Appellate Committee (see Grievance Redressal).
14. Changes to the Service and removal of content
We add, change and sometimes remove series, episodes, characters and features. We aim to keep series available to people who have started them, but we cannot promise that any Content will always be available. We may have to remove Content, sometimes at very short notice, because:
- a court, regulator or authority orders it, or the law requires it (for example after a valid complaint under India’s IT Rules);
- we receive a valid copyright, impersonation or other legal complaint;
- a licence ends;
- the Content breaches our guidelines or is found to contain a serious error.
When an episode is removed it disappears from the catalogue and from your downloads the next time your device connects, even if you unlocked it. What happens to coins spent on removed Content is described in the Refund Policy.
15. Intellectual property and feedback
“Turtle FM”, “Turtle Techsai” and our logos are our trademarks. Nothing in these Terms gives you a right to use them.
If you send us ideas or feedback, we may use them without owing you anything, but we will not identify you publicly without your permission.
If you believe Content infringes your copyright or other rights, follow our Copyright and IP complaints process.
16. Third-party services
The Service works with third-party services such as Apple, Google, RevenueCat and Microsoft. Their terms and privacy policies apply to your use of their services. We are not responsible for third-party services we do not control, but this does not limit our responsibility for choosing and supervising our own service providers.
Additional terms for the Apple App Store version
If you downloaded the app from the Apple App Store:
- These Terms are between you and us only, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for the app or its content.
- Your licence is limited to using the app on Apple-branded products you own or control, as permitted by the Usage Rules in the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions.
- Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the app.
- If the app fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple and Apple will refund the purchase price of the app (if any); to the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation for the app.
- We, not Apple, are responsible for addressing any claims relating to the app, including product liability claims, claims that the app fails to conform to legal or regulatory requirements, and consumer protection, privacy or similar claims.
- We, not Apple, are responsible for investigating, defending, settling and discharging any third-party claim that the app infringes intellectual property rights.
- You confirm you are not located in a country subject to a US Government embargo or designated as a “terrorist supporting” country, and are not on any US Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
- Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you.
17. Ending this agreement
- You can stop using the Service at any time and delete your account in Profile → Delete account and data or as described in Delete your account. Deletion is immediate and cannot be undone. Unused coins are forfeited. A VIP subscription is not cancelled by deleting your account — cancel it in your store first.
- We may suspend or close your account if you seriously or repeatedly break these Terms, if the law requires it, or to protect others. Unless the law or safety prevents it, we will give you notice and reasons. If we close your account without a good reason under these Terms, we will restore your account or credit you the value of your unused paid coins.
- Sections that by their nature should survive (for example 4, 15, 18, 19 and 21) continue after this agreement ends.
18. Disclaimers
The Service is provided for entertainment. We work hard to keep it available, safe and accurate, but, to the extent the law allows, we provide it “as is” and “as available” and do not promise that it will always be available, uninterrupted or error-free, or that AI-generated stories or chat replies will be accurate or suitable for any purpose.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits any rights or remedies you have under consumer law that cannot be excluded or limited, including, for example:
- in India, your rights under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019;
- in the UK, your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, including that digital content must be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose and as described;
- in the EU/EEA, your rights under EU consumer law and the law of your country;
- in Australia, the consumer guarantees in the Australian Consumer Law, which cannot be excluded. For major failures you are entitled to a refund or replacement, and to compensation for other reasonably foreseeable loss;
- in Canada and the US, rights under provincial or state consumer protection laws that cannot be waived.
19. Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows:
- we are not liable for losses that were not reasonably foreseeable, or for indirect or consequential losses, loss of data you could have backed up, or business losses (the Service is for personal use only);
- our total liability to you for all claims relating to the Service is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim and (b) INR 5,000 / USD 100 / GBP 100.
We do not exclude or limit liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot be excluded or limited by law.
20. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms, for example to reflect changes to the Service or the law. We will show the new version in the app and on our website with a new date. For changes that materially affect you — especially anything about coins, unlocking or VIP — we will tell you in the app at least 30 days before they take effect, unless a change is required sooner by law or for safety. If you do not agree, you can stop using the Service and delete your account before the change takes effect. Changes never reduce the value of coins you already have, raise the price of a published episode, or take away episodes you have already unlocked.
21. Governing law and disputes
Talk to us first. Most problems can be solved quickly. Contact contact@turtletechsai.com or the Grievance Officer at contact@turtletechsai.com and we will try to resolve your complaint within the times set out in the Grievance Redressal page.
Governing law. These Terms are governed by the laws of India, and, subject to the consumer protections below, the courts at Nagpur, Maharashtra have jurisdiction.
Consumer protections where you live. If you are a consumer, choosing Indian law does not take away the protection of mandatory laws of the country where you live, and you may bring proceedings in your local courts:
- India: you may file a complaint with the appropriate Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission, including online through the e-Daakhil portal, or contact the National Consumer Helpline (1915).
- UK: you may bring a claim in the courts of England and Wales, Scotland or Northern Ireland, depending on where you live.
- EU/EEA: you may bring a claim in the courts of your country of residence.
- Australia: nothing limits your rights under the Australian Consumer Law; you may contact your state or territory consumer protection agency.
- Canada: you may bring a claim in your province, and the consumer protection laws of your province apply, including Quebec’s Consumer Protection Act.
- United States:
22. General
- Entire agreement. These Terms and the documents they refer to are the whole agreement between you and us about the Service.
- Severability. If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest stays in effect.
- No waiver. If we do not enforce a right immediately, we can still enforce it later.
- Transfer. We may transfer this agreement to a company that takes over the Service, provided your rights are not reduced. You may not transfer your rights under it.
- Events outside our control. We are not responsible for delays or failures caused by events outside our reasonable control, but we will tell you and try to minimise the effect.
- Language. These Terms are written in English. If we provide a translation and there is a conflict, the English version applies unless the law where you live says otherwise.
